Probably one of the most bizarre tales I've ever read... but apparently the truth is stranger than fiction. Emo's have literally come under attack this past month throughout Mexico by rival punk and 'rockabilly' (wtf?) groups of teenagers. The groups of rock subculture have really been going at it throughout the country, with Mexico City standing at the epicenter of it all.
Personally, I really had no clue the emo subculture even existed in Mexico, let alone was under threat by rival groups of 'hardrockers'... Interestingly enough, at the center of all this is the underlying issue of homophobia in Mexico; as in the emo subculture is being equated with homosexuality to a certain degree, making it a threat to the other more 'macho' groups, if you will. Insane really
