Prada

Someone was bound to usher in a revival of the 3-button suit, and it should surprise no one if that someone turns out to be Miuccia Prada. Don't try fishing around the back of the closet though, because the last time the 3-button was in style, it sure wasn't slim-fitted like Prada’s. Whether the statement truly influences the course of the suit market, we shall see. Furnished with ties and shirts, the suits created the impression of young men heading into the workforce for the first time. They’re guileless and haven’t learned the rules of dressing yet. Hence, they accessorize with reflective athletic sunglasses, initialed waist pouches and clunky shoes that have a sneaker sole fused to a rope sole, fused to a wingtip. Other boys appeared headed to medical school, perhaps, mixing their hospital scrubs with their street clothes. And some also donned roomy workwear of dark denim, which Prada used for suits as well. Terrific ribbed sweaters were stacked with vivid, Lifesaver stripes. And just for variety, the collection had culottes, boat-neck sweaters and shirts with brightly colored plackets and collars — all novel enough yet familiar enough. This collection might not have been one of Prada’s most cohesive, but it was crackling with fresh ideas and youthful energy.
