Christopher Shannon

Inspired by the nostalgic feeling of never getting to go anywhere on holiday, Christopher Shannon’s collection referenced the wanderlust of trips he is yet to take. The overall feel was loosely based on friends' vacation snaps and the designer's parents' recent trip to Nairobi, Africa while he was stuck in Dalston, East London. Christopher Shannon wanted to focus on a very optimistic collection with a lot going on within it, working with more colors and new factories to see what was possible to create. The usual palette intensified from rich to pastels. In a quintessentially springtime spectrum, this color-blocked array of anoraks, shorts and chinos struck just the right balance between playful palette and perfect design. Subtle nods to Passa Passa reggae videos, fake ethnic tourist trinkets and reggae artist Dillinger all collided to add texture and depth to the collection. The paneled shorts and shirts -made in Paris- were obviously the key pieces. The signature technical sportswear came in combat patterns incorporating Christopher Shannon's graphic prints, topped off with fishermen hats and bottomed with Timberland boots and deck shoes. Besides, Eastpak continued to work with him on a collaborative range of backpacks emblazoned with his monogram featuring various removable components and straps .
