Henrik Vibskov

Before the models started walking, it was clear the show was set in a kind of post-apocalyptic world for this collection entitled " Last Pier Pandemonium". And when the models walked the runway, they were kitted out in post-apocalypse gear sporting padded headbands with chin straps and small black goggles necessary for protecting their eyes from that nuclear haze. The show felt more like a happening or an art installation than a typical runway show, which is par for the course from the multi-talented artist from Denmark. "The general vibe is dark, but with a built-in optimism that lies in the micro-organic life and the efforts to reestablish what has been broken", Henrik Vibskov ’s line sheet read. The people dressed for this occasion are strong but humble, the fit of the clothes is tight and gentlemanly, welcoming yet protective. These surviving gentlemen carry emergency flutes, a jar, rope and binoculars amongst them. One will find a passing stream of pictures referring to survival. The certain elements shown in a good old Henrik Vibskov stew of objects and symbols that mixes together into a final language. References to military, tribesmen or outdoor equipment aesthetics are a part of the vocabulary. Conventional cuts and designs are punched up with wild prints and complex layering, creating a spectacular modern-tribal vision of menswear.
